The Minister of Energy discussed with the Turkish Ambassador the use of floating power plants in Ukraine.
Ukraine is in talks with Turkey on the operation of floating power plants. The main issues are the safety of such stations and their location in Ukraine or abroad, the press service of the Ministry of Energy said on Wednesday, February 15.
“Floating power plants are an opportunity to provide generation in a certain region, it is one of the elements of decentralization of the energy system,” said the Minister of Energy German Galushchenko in a meeting with the Turkish Ambassador Yagmur Ahmet Guldere.
According to the minister, Turkey remains an important partner of Ukraine in the energy sector. In particular, the country has already delivered 180 generators to Kharkiv and Kherson.
The parties agreed to continue negotiations on future floating power plants, in particular, on their locations.
Earlier it became known that the Turkish company Karpowership planned to provide Ukraine with floating power plants with a capacity of 500 MW. Floating power plants will be installed in the ports of Moldova and Romania, the supply of electricity to Ukrainian networks will pass through these countries.
