The supply of liquefied natural gas to the port of Elbehafen took place within the framework of an agreement between ADNOC and the German RWE.
Abu Dhabi National Oil Company ADNOC has delivered the first batch of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Germany under an agreement with German RWE. This was stated in ADNOC’s statement, published on February 15.
It was noted that LNG was transported from the United Arab Emirates to the Elbehafen floating terminal in Brunsbüttel.
According to the statement of the Emirati company, the volume of liquefied gas produced at Das Island in Abu Dhabi is 137,000 cubic meters. m.
This is the first batch of LNG that Germany has received from the Middle East region.
It can be recalled that the agreement on LNG supplies to Germany was reached during the visit of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to Abu Dhabi in September 2022.
ADNOC and RWE then signed a memorandum on multi-year supplies of liquefied natural gas, which can be carried out through floating or land-based regasification terminals when they become operational.
In January 2023, Scholz said that Germany has overcome its dependence on Russian energy carriers. He emphasized that two mobile terminals for the reception of liquefied gas have already been opened in Germany and the opening of new ones is expected.
