Now Ukraine has the ability to make a virtual reverse to all GTS operators in neighboring European countries.
Ukrainian and foreign traders began to transport gas from European countries through Moldova with subsequent injection into Ukrainian storage facilities. This was announced yesterday by GTS Operator of Ukraine.
It is indicated that it is a virtual reverse, which became possible to use thanks to a recent decision of the Moldovan government. The essence of the service is to optimize the transportation work of gas transmission system operators, including when there is a need for transportation across the border in the same direction.
In this case, operators only perform physical transportation in one direction, and on the other hand, gas is transported using a virtual reverse (or backhaul). Then the fuel does not physically move across the border, and the parties carry out netting, which is one of the most progressive commercial methods of the European market, among its advantages is the saving of fuel fuel and reducing CO2 emissions.
“Ukraine’s GTS operator, together with Ukrtransgaz, continues to provide traders with short haul and “customs warehouse” services. We offer our partners cooperation that will strengthen the European energy market and contribute to further unification of Ukraine,” said the acting president. General Director of OGTSU Pavel Stanchak.
Now Ukraine has the ability to make a virtual reverse to all GTS operators in neighboring European countries. The main requirement for this is that the resource exists in the system.
Recall that in early November, Moldova for the first time in history used the reverse for importing gas from west to east. The resource is imported through the Budniki delivery point in Slovakia on the border with Ukraine.
And in December, Moldova received gas for the first time through the Trans-Balkan gas pipeline. In the past, it was used only for the supply of Russian gas to the Balkans.
