In 2022, global sales of electric vehicles will increase significantly: their share in total annual vehicle sales will reach 10%. This was reported by the Interfax agency, citing data from analytical companies LMC Automotive and EV-Volumes.com.
Thus, the sale of all-electric cars jumped by 68% compared to last year – up to 7.8 million units.
In Europe, the share of electric vehicles in total sales reached 11%, in China – 19%.
Electric vehicles as well as plug-in hybrid vehicles will account for a total of 20.3% of vehicle sales in the European market in 2022.
According to the Association of the German Automotive Industry, cars with electric motors accounted for 25% of all car production in Germany last year. In December, their sales in Germany exceeded sales of cars with internal combustion engines.
Overall, global car sales fell 1% last year to 80.6 million units, LMC notes. They decreased by 8% in the US and 7% in Europe, and increased by 4% in China.
Recall that according to the results of 11 months of 2022, the electric car market in Ukraine grew by 55%.
