Rebuilding Puno’s Juliaca Airport will cost half a million sols after damage caused by protests to the terminal, concessionaire Aeropuertos Andinos warns.
General director Andean airportsRaul Diaz Diaz specified that it is necessary to replace a thousand meters of perimeter fence.
“We had a very serious impact on the infrastructure. Today we have just over a thousand meters of affected perimeter fencing, in addition to some walls, at least 20 brick walls that have been removed,” he told RPP Noticias.
Diaz specified that it is the concessionaire that will have to finance this reconstruction of the terminal.
“This is financed by us, the concessionaire (…) To date, since we are still under the threat of demonstrations around the airport, we have not been able to complete the damage calculation, I do not think it is less than half a million soles,” he commented.
Representative Andean airports He added that the airport plans to launch a new runway in 2023, which involves an investment of about $130 million.
Diaz noted that repairs to Juliaca Airport would take 25 to 30 days.
It should be noted that with the closure of this the airport about 15,000 passengers cannot travel, with a total of 100 flights per week; however, let’s take into account that the Candelaria festival is approaching, which would quadruple the number of trips.
