As of this Friday, LPG stocks in the southern regions will be running out due to roadblocks, warns Peruvian Society of Hydrocarbons (SPH).

“(In the south) there is already depletion. Arequipa is expected to run out of supplies by Friday or Saturday, Arequipa will have a LPG limit, Cusco already has a limit. feel the weekend in Moquegua, in Tacna,” commented Felipe Cantuarias, President of SPH, RPP.

The union president warns that inventories lost during the December protests have not been recovered.

“Failed to restore all stock which were lost in December because it took 15 days, which makes the situation more critical,” he said.

In the meantime, they argue that the shortage of LPG will begin to be felt due to the fact that tank trucks They leave Pisco to the south, but today, due to the blockade, “trucks only go as far as Ica.”

According to him, 70% of the fuel Camisea recycles to power its cranes comes from Pisco.

In the midst of these shutdowns, anomalous waves have also been reported that prevent the offloading of 30% of imported fuel entering the country, but are assured that this will not cause a shortage in the central and northern regions of the country. .

Cantuarias claims the product, which cannot be transported to the southern regions due to protests, will make up for stocks fuel which cannot be unloaded by waves.

“What is affected is imports, which are about 30%. These days, when the product does not arrive, it is compensated by the fact that there is an additional stock created by the lack of supplies to the south. This allows us to compensate for the situation in the city center, in Lima and in the north,” he explained.

With such an ample supply in the central and northern regions, the union representative adds, there should be no increase in fuel prices.
