The electric car will be sold first in the US and then in Japan and Europe. Pre-orders will open in 2025, and real sales will begin in 2026.
A joint venture between Sony and Honda has released a new electric vehicle prototype called Afeela. This was reported by The Verge.
Much is still unknown about the new brand, but CEO Yasuhide Mizuno says the car will use Sony’s expertise in artificial intelligence, entertainment, virtual and augmented reality to present unique results.
Also among the revealed sensors are cameras, radar, ultrasound and lidar. They will be placed all over the vehicle’s surface, improving its ability to detect objects and drive autonomously.
It is noted that Honda in this partnership is responsible for the automotive component, and Sony – for entertainment.
In terms of price, the electric car will compete with other premium automakers such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Volvo and Audi. Sony said its software will offer a subscription service, so car owners may have to pay a monthly fee to access some features.
Earlier it was reported that the manufacturer of mobile processors and the developer of wireless communication Qualcomm created its own car project of the future.
