“In 2022, the Ukrainian economy suffered the biggest losses, damage and harm caused by the Russian Federation in the history of independence,” said Yulia Sviridenko, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy.

He emphasized that the achievements of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the battlefield, the coordinated work of the government and business, the indomitable spirit of the population, as well as the systematic financial support from international partner has “allowed us to keep the economic front.”

According to a preliminary assessment by analysts of the Ministry of Economy, taking into account the operational assessment of the State Statistics Service of real GDP for the three quarters of 2022, the fall in GDP in 2022 is estimated at 30.4%.

“This is actually the worst result since independence, and it is better than most experts expected at the beginning of a full-scale invasion, when estimates ranged from 40-50% of the fall in GDP,” the ministry stressed.

Earlier, the IMF predicted that Ukraine may need from 39.5 to 57 billion dollars of external financing by 2023
