About 80 Ukrainian companies that meet certain criteria will receive assistance from the EBRD, Switzerland and the United States.
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Switzerland and the United States will help Ukrainian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from the territories most affected by the Russian invasion in relocation, reports the EBRD press service.
It was noted that the total amount of aid from these donors is 2.4 million euros.
“About 80 Ukrainian companies will receive up to 30,000 euros each for reimbursing expenses that have not yet been paid by other organizations related to the transportation of equipment, raw materials and finished products; packaging, removal -removal, repair, repair, rental and purchase of equipment; use of premises: up to one month of rent, engineering or repair and construction work in the area for storage of equipment and production,” said the message.
It is reported that companies must meet the following requirements: have up to 500 employees, an annual turnover of up to 50 million euros or total assets of up to 43 million euros, at least two years of operation and the share of those with Ukrainian-owned – more than 50%.
The EBRD stressed that the war launched by Russia in Ukraine has had a devastating impact on SMEs, especially in the eastern, northern and southern regions of the country. Companies are being forced to relocate to the safer western region of Ukraine to protect their workers, maintain equipment and restart operations.
SMEs play an important role in creating jobs and adding value in Ukraine. According to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, they account for approximately 82% of total employment and 64% of value added to GDP. According to the Advanter Group, in the first 75 days of the war alone, companies lost $64-85 billion due to property damage and disruption to the normal functioning of markets.
Earlier it was reported that the EBRD allocated 372 million euros to Ukraine for the repair of energy infrastructure.
