Terrafame’s uranium extraction facility will be fully operational by 2026.

Terrafame will start mining uranium in Finland in the summer of 2024. Finnish national broadcaster Yle reported this on Wednesday, December 21.

The uranium is planned to be transported abroad for further processing. It is planned to be used in the production of nuclear energy.

Sotkamo now has a uranium extraction plant on the grounds of the Terrafame plant, which needs to be operational.

The store is planned to be launched at full capacity by 2026, when uranium production is estimated at about 200 tons per year.

The Terrafame plant in Sotkamo will be the only uranium plant in Europe.

As you know, all nine power units at nuclear power plants located in the territory controlled by the country’s government are operating in Ukraine, but the work of some of them is limited.
