The start of the program for the free exchange of incandescent lamps for new LED lamps in the amount of up to five lamps per person is scheduled for January 1, 2023, the Ministry of Economy is working to complete all procedures in European Union by the end of the year, said First Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko.
“There is a proposal from the government of Ukraine to replace 50 million old light bulbs with LED lamps, we announced the initiative to our international partners, and the first to join this initiative was the European Union, which announced that it is financially ready. the replacement of 30 million lamps for the population of Ukraine” , he said on the air of the national telethon on Tuesday.
According to him, people over the age of 18 can go to the Ukrposhta branch or leave their application on the Diya portal first, and then physically go to the Ukrposhta branch and replace the old incandescent lamps for new LED lamps for free.
Sviridenko clarified that a person can replace five light bulbs and thus contribute to the introduction of energy-saving technologies at home, because LED lamps consume eight to eight times less electricity.
“In fact, this is the least we can do to help our power engineers balance Ukraine’s energy system,” said the head of the Ministry of Economy.
The ministry clarified that 40% of the electricity consumption structure in Ukraine is the population, and changing 50 million incandescent bulbs can save the operation of a 1 MW reactor.
Recall that the International Finance Corporation (IFC) allocated $2 billion to support investments in Ukraine.
