The image of the new king will appear on all polymer notes at 5, 10, 20 and 50 pounds.
The Bank of England has released a banknote design featuring the new King of Great Britain, Charles III. This was stated in the regulator’s press release, published on December 20.
It was noted that the image of the monarch will appear on all polymer notes at 5, 10, 20 and 50 pounds. His image will be placed on the front side of the banknotes, as well as in the form of a cameo.
The new banknotes are expected to enter circulation in mid-2024. All polymer banknotes bearing the image of Queen Elizabeth II remain legal and can continue to be used as normal by British nationals.
To minimize environmental and financial impacts, the new Charles III notes will only be printed to replace obsolete banknotes and to meet the increased demand for them.
Recall that in early December, the first coins with Charles III were put into circulation in Britain.
Charles III is the son of Elizabeth II, who took the throne after her death. He was proclaimed King of Great Britain on 10 September.
