The head of state gave awards to the best servicemen defending the eastern fortress of Ukraine.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region on Tuesday. Deputy Defense Minister Anna Malyar said this on the air of the telethon, RBC-Ukraine reports on Tuesday, December 20.

“We are on a business trip. Today is 300 days of a great massive war, and today the president in Bakhmut awarded our best defenders who defend our eastern fortress – Bakhmut. The main forces of the enemy are concentrated there, but no enemy comes out,” said Anna Malyar.

Zelensky was given the Ukrainian flag from Bakhmut to transfer to his partners. Then the President left the city.

Earlier on Tuesday, the media reported Zelensky’s unannounced visit to Bakhmut. For five months now, Bakhmut has been the hottest point on the front line and the center of the conflict for Donbass.
