The cost includes €697 million for equipment, a €120 million military aid package and a €100 million contribution to the International Fund for Ukraine.
The amount of military aid provided by the Netherlands to Ukraine amounted to 987 million euros. This was said by the Minister of Defense of the Netherlands, Kaisa Ollongren, in a speech to the country’s parliament, reports the NL Times.
Ollongren specified that the said amount includes 697 million euros for equipment, a military aid package of 120 million euros and a contribution of 100 million euros to be made to the International Fund for Ukraine.
In addition, the Netherlands also contributes 25 million euros to the NATO fund for military support to Ukraine, which suffered due to the full military invasion of the Russian Federation. This fund is intended for payments for fuel, clothing and medicines.
According to Ollongren, the large amount shows “how important it is to help Ukraine so that it does not lose the war with Russia.” The head of the Ministry of Defense also noted that the end of this war is not yet in sight, and the Russian Federation continues to strike from the air on Ukrainian infrastructure and energy supplies, even though it is now winter.
“But Ukraine can stay with the aid,” said the defense minister.
The support provided affects the combat readiness of the Dutch military, but, according to Ollongren, it is still acceptable, and what the Netherlands provides to Ukraine is “immediately replenished.”
The minister expects the industry to do more, and it is necessary to “return the production lines to working order.”
Earlier it was reported that NATO leaders and the Dutch Foreign Ministry discussed the supply of weapons to Ukraine.
