The teenager was hit and killed on Wednesday evening in Montpellier (South of France), after France reached the final World Cup 2022 in Qatar beating Morocco 2-0, the prefecture announced.
The driver responsible for the collision fled, and “the car was found near the scene of the accident,” the prefecture said in a statement, indicating that “the police investigation is progressing rapidly under the leadership of the prosecutor’s office.”
The victim, taken to the hospital, died soon after.

The teenager “soon died as a result of his injuries,” he added, adding that Montpellier’s departmental security had been tasked with “investigating allegations of aggravated fatal blows, in this case with a weapon (vehicle).”
