Experts say that one day of shelling and bombing is equivalent to 30 days of demining. Therefore, they turn to foreign organizations with a request for assistance.
Ukraine has appealed to countries and international organizations to help people and equipment remove mines in the territories where the fighting took place. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Denis Monastyrsky on the air of the Unified News telethon on Friday, April 29.
“One day of active operation is equal to 30 days of demining. For example, in the Kyiv region, the fighting continued for 30-35 days. Multiply by 30 and we get the number of days the State needs Emergency Service to work clean up these territories, “said Monastyrsky.
He also noticed that with the onset of spring, when the ground is overgrown with grass, it becomes increasingly difficult to find explosive devices. Do their job and it rains – on wet ground the fireworks sink deeper in a few months.
“Now the State Emergency Service, pyrotechnics are almost in a gap, they are not enough. It is critical. We turn to the world, we agree that organizations working in the field of humanitarian post-war demining are should attract their specialists to us, “summarized the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Recall that Denis Monastyrsky had previously said that demining the area around the Chernobyl nuclear power plant would take several months. And the head of the Kyiv OVA, Oleksandr Pavlyuk, said that demining in the region will take two years, although the main work on communities and roads is planned to be completed by the end of May.
