UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres ’diplomatic efforts to end Russian President Vladimir Putin’s bloody war with Ukraine have been met with skepticism by Ukrainian officials.
Guterres said on Saturday that he would visit Russia and Ukraine this week to meet separately with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Next week I will meet with President Vladimir Putin in Russia and President Vladimir Zelensky in Ukraine.
We need immediate steps to save lives, end human suffering and bring peace to Ukraine.

Zelensky questioned the purpose of Guterres’ trip to Moscow.
“Because? Receive signals from Russia? What should we look for?” According to the Associated Press, Zelensky said after the statement of the head of the UN.
Igor Zhovkva, Zelensky’s deputy head of office, told NBC’s Meet The Press Sunday that the UN leader was “not really authorized” to speak on behalf of Ukraine.
“It’s not a good idea to go to Moscow,” Zhovkva said. “We did not understand your intention to go to Moscow and talk to President Putin.

Jova doubts that the talks under Guterres will be constructive. He also called on the United Nations to provide more humanitarian assistance to Ukraine.
“Any peace talks is good if they end with a result,” Jova said.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmihal said that despite numerous attempts to involve Russia in important peace talks, the Kremlin does not seem interested.
“I think the Russian Federation and Putin are not interested in these talks,” Schmihal said. “They are interested in other things. “They are interested in the genocide of Ukrainians”.
