Ukraine, as part of the exchange, gave Russia a UOC-MP priest. This was announced on Wednesday, December 14, by Andrey Yusov, a representative of GUR, on the air of the telethon.
He noted that the UOC-MP priest received a sentence in Ukraine for treason. He was traded for an American captured by the Russians.
“A citizen of the United States is an activist who stayed in Kherson and was illegally arrested by the occupying authorities. I can tell you an interesting detail. Today, the Russians in their telegram channels reported that they took a priest of the UOC (MP), who in Ukraine received a sentence for the public, I would say that it is not without help in this context that a US citizen returns to Ukraine today and can return home,” said Yusov.
Earlier, he confirmed that the Ukrainian special services consider priests of the Moscow Patriarchate accused of criminal offenses as an exchange fund in Russia.
