The German leader said the UN Charter should apply “to everyone and everywhere,” and Russia, which attacked Ukraine, questioned it.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to “immediately end the war.” He said this on Wednesday, December 14, in Brussels, Spiegel reports.
“The brutal killing must stop, Putin must end the war immediately,” Scholz said.
The German Chancellor also emphasized that the UN Charter should apply “to everyone and everywhere,” and that Russia, in attacking Ukraine, called it into question.
“No state has the right to invade another,” the chancellor stressed, adding that nuclear threats are also unacceptable.
Earlier, Scholz said that in the conversation with him, Putin did not hide his intention to occupy foreign territories.
Scholz also said that Putin is pushing Russia down a slippery slope and leading “to an unimaginable moral abyss.”
