Russia has given Iran a loan for the first time in 30 years. In addition, Belarus, Bangladesh, India and Vietnam became the largest debtors of the Russian Federation. This is confirmed by World Bank (WB) data.
For the first time since the early 1990s, Iran appears on the list of creditors to Russia. In particular, according to last year’s results, he owes 6 million dollars. The World Bank said that the last time Tehran’s debt to Moscow was settled in 1992. Then it was equal to 251.3 thousand dollars.
Belarus’s debt grew by 1.9% and now stands at $8.5 billion.
Behind the Republic of Belarus is Bangladesh, whose debt reached 4.4 billion, which is almost a third more than a year ago.
India’s debt rose 11.7 percent to $3.3 billion.
Vietnam increased its debt by 0.9 percent over the year. However, overall, the debt amount is $1.5 billion.
Yemen and Afghanistan increased their debts to 1.17 and 1.16 billion, respectively.
Uzbekistan’s debt immediately increased by 77% and now stands at $254.7 million. Egypt’s debt increased 63.7% to $867.2 million. Pakistan increased borrowing by 20.8% to $86.7 million.
In general, in 2021, 38 countries became debtors to the Russian Federation. Total debt is estimated at $26.54 billion and grew by 7.4 percent over the year. Of this amount, Asia accounted for $12.06 billion, Europe – $10 billion, the Middle East – $3.05 billion, Africa – $1.35 billion, and Latin America – $86.1 million.
Recall that the official Tehran said that it did not send weapons to “any of the parties,” indicating a war launched by the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
According to the adviser to the head of the Office of the President, Mikhail Podolyak, the military cooperation between Russia and Iran today is concerned not only with the war in Ukraine, but with international security.
