US support for Ukraine continues, but some disagreements over the scope and purpose of military aid are beginning to emerge, including within the Biden administration. The new Republican majority in the House of Representatives can also impose certain conditions on this aid starting in January.
US aid in Kiev has so far been seen by most Americans as a success for the Democratic administration. Without committing any soldiers to the fighting, the Americans greatly contributed to the resistance of the Ukrainian army by supplying it with modern weapons and ammunition. Since this summer, this support has enabled the success of Ukraine’s counteroffensive and the recapture of some of its territory, before the recapture of Kherson last month.
