The UN Security Council has failed to do everything in its power to resolve the conflict, António Guterres acknowledged.
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is a violation of the UN Charter. This was announced on Thursday, April 28, by the Secretary General of the organization António Guterres at a briefing in Kyiv after a meeting with President Volodymyr Zelensky.
One of the values of the UN is respect for the integrity of the territory. This is fundamental, ”Guterres stressed.
He admitted that “the UN Security Council has not done everything in its power” to resolve the dispute. At the same time, the Secretary General noted that UN employees provide assistance by working in Ukraine in 30 locations.
We will not give up. We will fight the use of force, ”the Secretary General added.
Recall that Kyiv underwent rocket fire during the visit of António Guterres. There were at least two explosions in the Shevchenko district.
And on April 26, Guterres met with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The conversation lasted about an hour. Putin outlined his version of events in Ukraine.
