During the conversation, the president also called for an end to the deportation from Ukraine to Russia. According to Zelensky, “It is important for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees to gain access to the citizens of Ukraine and ensure their repatriation.”
He also called for the unblocking of food export ports in Ukraine, noting that millions of people on the planet depend on Ukrainian food.
In turn, Guterres said he was doing everything possible to evacuate people from Azovstal. He called Mariupol a “crisis within a crisis” and added that he had intensive talks with Zelensky to make the evacuation from Mariupol a reality.
