Soon, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive a new drone, which will help them strike in the enemy’s rear.
Ukraine is actively developing its own drones, which are one of the most effective weapons in the war against Russia. Oleg Boldyrev, project manager of the Ukroboronprom concern, spoke about this in an interview with Present Time.
According to him, the current war is moving towards the battle of robotic unmanned systems, and Ukraine is actively working to provide its defenders with the necessary number of them. According to a representative of Ukroboronprom, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive a new drone, which will help them attack the enemy’s rear.
Boldyrev said the drone is almost ready and being tested. In terms of characteristics, the UAV is similar to Iranian kamikaze drones, but has some features that make it unique.
“He already exists. I would call him ‘patient zero’. The car flies, speaking of a strike drone, it means a kamikaze option. But we Ukrainians are very greedy people. We will have kamikaze with the possibility of return,” he said.
Boldyrev explained that the ability to “return” means that drones can attack enemy targets multiple times. The flight range of the new UAVs is 1,000 kilometers, and the weight of the drone warhead is 75 kilograms.
Ukroboronprom emphasized that the developed model of drones is partly made up of foreign-made parts, but the development of software, means of communication with ground stations, assembly and maintenance of drones is carried out by domestic specialists .
It was previously reported about the explosion at the Ryazan airbase. Also, the downing of an unidentified drone caused damage to two Tu-95 missile carriers at a military airbase in Engels in Russia’s Saratov region.
