The German leader said that in the conversation with him, Putin did not hide his intention to occupy foreign territories.

Russian President Vladimir Putin will not give up his plans of conquest regarding Ukraine and launching a war, the goals he has repeatedly revealed during their negotiations. This is what German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said, reports Bild.

He spoke about his phone conversations with Putin, saying he was unlikely to make concessions in the war against Ukraine.

“Every time I talk to Putin, he also makes it very clear that he absolutely wants to occupy something. He just wants to occupy part of the Ukrainian territory by force,” said Scholz.

The German Chancellor also drew the fact that the leader of the Kremlin fully complies with such plans, even in spite of the huge losses of the Russian invaders.

“We don’t know how many Russian servicemen died. Probably 100,000,” Scholz said. He stressed that, despite the difference in views, negotiations with the Russian dictator will continue.

Scholz added that the Russian leadership has shown brutal behavior in the past, for example in Syria or Chechnya, where it “wiped an entire country off the face of the earth.”

Since the start of the war in Ukraine, Scholz has repeatedly called out Putin. The last conversation in early December was marked by similar accusations. Scholz condemned Russia’s attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure, Putin condemned the “destructive line of Western states, including Germany” that support Kyiv with weapons and train Ukrainian soldiers.

Recall that Scholz previously said that Putin is pushing Russia down a slippery slope and leading “to an unimaginable moral abyss.”

Before that, Putin, in a conversation with Scholz, called a “forced” strike on Ukraine. The Kremlin leader also complained about the West’s “destructive line” and called for negotiations with Ukraine.
