The corresponding bill has already been recognized by the country’s Federal Senate. Further, a similar decision must be made by the Chamber of Deputies of the National Congress.
The Federal Senate recognized the Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine as genocide. The corresponding bill was submitted by Senator Alvaro Diaz, and approved at the meeting on April 26, according to the Senate Agency.
It was noted that the corresponding bill was approved by one of the two chambers of the Brazilian Parliament unanimously. The next step should be voting for the same law in the Chamber of Deputies of the National Congress of Brazil.
The bill also spells Remembrance Day for Holodomor victims. It is assumed that in Brazil an unforgettable day is the fourth Saturday of November.
Recall that in early April, the Czech Parliament recognized the Holodomor as a genocide of Ukrainians.
By the way, the US Senate recognized the Holodomor in Ukraine as genocide in 2018.
