In Nikolaev, the entire water supply system will have to be replaced due to its destruction by salt water.
Since May, the city has been forced to use the salt water of the Bug estuary due to the destruction of the freshwater pipeline from the Dnieper. Through the “sea water”, the city needs to replace about 250 km of pipes of different diameters, including 140 cm.
The general director of KP “Nikolaevvodokanal” Boris Dudenko estimated the damage from use of salt water in billions of hryvnias.
The Russians don’t want us to have water. They deliberately blew up the pipeline. Even the FSB was involved there, which said: this (the presence of water. – Rakurs) will be a negotiating position. No one negotiated with them, and they blew it up. They wanted to blackmail the city with water or have a trump card for negotiations, — the head of the Nikolaev OVA Vitaliy Kim told LIGA.net.
Mykolaiv was left without water in April when the Russians deliberately blew up a water pipe. Since then, the streets of the city are always full of Nikolaev residents with empty bottles. The lack of drinking water is the main complaint that can now be heard from the townspeople.
After the liberation of Kherson, Nikolaev ceased to be a front-line city. This allowed work to begin to return water to the city.
The first part (repair of the water supply) has already been completed, assures the mayor of the city Alexander Senkevich. The next stage is the restoration of objects in the Kherson region.
