The funds are channeled through the World Bank’s multi-donor Trust Fund for Relief, Recovery, Reconstruction and Reform in Ukraine (URTF).
The Norwegian government announced the signing of an agreement with the World Bank to provide one billion Norwegian kroner ($100 million) to restore infrastructure damaged as a result of Russian missile attacks in Ukraine.
“There is an urgent need to repair the electricity supply system and other infrastructure in Ukraine after Russia’s bombing campaign against civilian targets. I am pleased that we signed an agreement to provide NOK 1 billion to help to start a quick fix,” said Norwegian Foreign Minister Anniken Guitfeldt after signing the document with the World Bank Regional Director for Eastern Europe, Arup Banerjee.
It is noted that these funds from Norway are channeled through the World Bank’s multi-donor Trust Fund for Relief, Recovery, Reconstruction and Reform in Ukraine (URTF).
“The World Bank will use this fund to continue mobilizing crisis support for the Ukrainian authorities, including support for critical infrastructure repairs and long-term reconstruction,” the statement said.
Earlier it was reported that Norway allocated almost $200 million for gas to Ukraine.
Recall that Norway gave Ukraine a batch of military aid.
