These UAVs have the ability to travel longer distances, fly to higher ground and reload for additional missions.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine requires the United States to provide the Armed Forces of Ukraine with MQ-1C Gray Eagle attack drones with appropriate ammunition-AGM-114 Hellfire missiles. On Wednesday, April 27, Politico reports.
“We are waiting for positive results,” said the Ukrainian Defense Ministry.
The Pentagon has already sent to Ukraine several small Switchblade kamikaze drones and a new Phoenix Ghost with similar capabilities.
But Ukrainian officials say they also need more talented Reapers and Gray Eagles that can travel longer distances, fly at higher altitudes and reload for more missions.
It is reported that Ukraine has already talked to General Atomics, a manufacturer of drones, to receive these systems. But any sale or transfer of American weapons would require the approval of the U.S. government, particularly the State Department and the Pentagon.
Earlier it was reported that the United States has developed a UAV specifically for the needs of Ukraine – Phoenix Ghost.
And on March 16, the White House announced the delivery of 100 Switchblade-300 drones worth $ 800 million to Ukraine.
