According to El Comercio, in a special meeting, Peruvian Vice President Dina Boluarte was sworn in as the new President of the Republic following the decision of Congress to remove Pedro Castillo from office.
Earlier, the country’s Congress voted to impeach the president. 101 representatives of the Peruvian Congress cast their votes, six opposed, and 10 abstained.
This happened hours after the president announced the dissolution of parliament and imposed a curfew in the country, ordering the army and police to advance on the Congress building. Addressing the crowd on TV, Castillo announced the dissolution of Congress. He promised to change the Constitution and said he would not give up power. The police and army did not support the President of Peru, Pedro Castillo.
Congress accused Castillo of committing corruption crimes. The president denied the accusations and called them absurd.
Peruvian Attorney General Daniel Soria announced the opening of a criminal investigation against Pedro Castillo. The President of Peru has been detained on charges of attempting a coup d’état.
It should be remembered that the Constitutional Court of Ukraine supported the resignation of three judges – Irina Zavgorodnya, Serhiy Sas and Igor Slidenko.
