The issue of energy is always on the agenda both at the Headquarters of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief and at the government level.
It is quite difficult to restore the entire operation of the Ukrainian energy sector after the Russian attack. Therefore, a large part of the country’s population lives in emergency blackout conditions. This was announced on Wednesday, December 7, by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.
According to him, on the night of December 7, most of the losses were in Kyiv and the region, Lviv region, Zhytomyr region, Khmelnitsky, Poltava, Vinnitsa and Transcarpathia regions.
“Energy is our constant item on the agenda both at Headquarters and at the government level. I also held a meeting on stabilizing the energy system and protecting our power plants. We continue to increase power generation and supply – we add more volume almost every day. But we must not forget – and do not forget everything – to restore 100% of the energy system, as it was before the start of the Russian energy scare, is now impossible. It takes time,” he said.
Zelensky expressed gratitude to power engineers, repairmen, businesses, utility workers and local authorities who are doing everything to alleviate the situation for people.
It will be remembered that since October, Russian terrorists have been carrying out massive missile strikes on the civilian infrastructure of Ukraine. On November 23, the Russian Federation fired 70 missiles at Ukraine, of which 51 were shot down. As a result of the attack, energy infrastructure facilities were damaged. Some cities and regions were left without electricity, water and heating. Before this, on November 15, the Russian Federation carried out a massive missile attack on the territory of Ukraine, as a result of which energy infrastructure facilities were seriously damaged. In addition, in the regions of Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk, networks are constantly destroyed due to shelling by the enemy.
As a result, DTEK was able to restore electricity supply to one million consumers in November alone.
