The country’s banking system has also joined the package of financial sanctions against the Russian Federation.
The first military aid – sappers, was offered to be sent to the territory of Ukraine by Moldovan President Maia Sandu. He announced this on Wednesday, April 27, on the air of the JurnalTV channel.
“We are trying to help Ukraine and give it transportation arteries,” he said. “We offered to help them with the sappers, we offered to provide humanitarian assistance. This is what we can do,” he said.
The President of Moldova also added that the country’s banking system has joined the package of financial sanctions against Russia imposed by European Union countries.
It is learned that units of Moldovan military sappers are regularly engaged in UN peacekeeping missions in various parts of the world. Among them have participated in UN operations in Liberia, Sudan, Iraq, Georgia and Côte d’Ivoire.
