The European Commission has published its fifth monitoring report on the EU visa-free regime with eight countries.
Ukraine continues to comply with the conditions for the functioning of a visa-free regime in the European Union and has made progress in implementing last year’s recommendations. This was announced by the European Commission on Monday, December 5.
It is indicated that this was discussed in the EC’s fifth report on the monitoring of the EU visa-free regime with Ukraine, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia, as well as Georgia and Moldova, published on Monday in Brussels.
“All the countries concerned continue to comply with the requirements of visa liberalization and have made progress in implementing last year’s recommendations. The report focuses on the actions taken to implement the recommendations made by the Commission last year in the fourth report under the visa suspension mechanism, Ensures continued implementation of requirements in the visa liberalization regime. The report also highlights areas where additional efforts are needed on the part of each country,” the report said.
The European Commission believes that all assessed countries continue to take measures to prevent and fight organized crime, but further efforts are needed to address internal security problems. Especially in the area of high levels of anti-corruption, the report states that anti-corruption efforts continue to be “constrained by the limited capacity and legal status of anti-corruption bodies, as well as the low number of prosecutions and judgment. .”
Regarding the fight against organized crime, the European Commission said that all countries should intensify the fight against transnational organized criminal networks in cooperation with Europol.
Earlier, the European Commission said that a full-scale invasion by Russia does not carry the risk of suspending the visa-free regime between Ukraine and the European Union.
