The first ship with Ukrainian grain arrived in Ethiopia

Ukraine launched the Grain from Ukraine humanitarian food program, providing grain for at least 5 million people until the end of spring 2023.

The first ship arrived in Ethiopia under the GrainFromUkraine program. This was stated on Saturday, December 3, in the publication of the head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak in Telegram.

The first ship delivered 25,000 tons of wheat to the country.

“As part of President Volodymyr Zelensky’s Grain from Ukraine program, 25,000 tons of Ukrainian humanitarian wheat was sent to Ethiopia,” he wrote.

It is known that the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced a new international initiative – Grain from Ukraine. Within its framework, Ukrainian food will be sent to the countries of Africa and Asia.

Overall, the Grain from Ukraine program plans to send at least 60 ships from Ukrainian ports by the end of next spring – at least ten a month – to countries at risk of famine and drought. It is Ethiopia, it is Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia, Yemen, Congo, Kenya, Nigeria.

It can be recalled that the government approved the provision of humanitarian assistance to African and Asian states in the form of wheat or corn with a total amount of up to 125,000 metric tons.
