Ukraine could take over Transnistria in the snap of its fingers, but only in the case of the appropriate request from Moldova, said the adviser to the head of the Office of the President.
The Kremlin called the statement of the adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Oleksiy Arestovich about his readiness to take control of Transnistria as provocative. This was stated by the spokesman of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov on Wednesday, April 27.
“It’s pretty provocative. And that’s all I can say,” Peskov said, answering the corresponding question from journalists.
Earlier, Arestovich said Ukraine could occupy Transnistria in a snap of its fingers, but only if Moldova applied accordingly. He said this in an interview with Mark Feigin, who commented on reports of recent explosions in the region.
Also, Ukrainian intelligence denied Ukraine’s involvement in the provocations in Transnistria. They reported that the Russian Federation was preparing a missile attack on civilians in Transnistria.
In turn, the Russian Foreign Ministry expressed concern over the events in Pridnestrovie. They don’t seem to get involved in the conflict.
