The National Security and Defense Council imposed sanctions against the clergy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate.
Under the restrictions, in particular, were the governor of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra Pavlo (Lebed), the former people’s deputy Vadim Novinsky and a dozen more clergy of the UOC-MP, mainly from the temporarily occupied territories. This was reported on December 2 by Ukrayinska Pravda, citing a source in the president’s team.
Recall that President Volodymyr Zelensky put into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council to ban the activities in Ukraine of religious organizations affiliated with centers of influence in Russia.
The decision of the National Security and Defense Council means that the government must, within two months, submit to the Verkhovna Rada a draft law that would make it impossible for religious organizations affiliated with centers of influence in Russia to operate in Ukraine.
In addition, the decision of the National Security and Defense Council provides for the introduction of personal sanctions against certain representatives of religious organizations affiliated with centers of influence in Russia. The list of names on Bankova was promised to be made public later.
