Iranian justice is investigating the gunshot death of a young man who allegedly celebrated his national team’s loss to the United States at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The Gilan provincial prosecutor’s office confirmed the death by gunshot on Thursday. Mehran Samak in the city of Bandar Anzali on the night the Iranian football team lost to the United States, the news agency reported. ISNA.
“A court case has been launched to clarify this issue,” he said. Mehdi FallahGilan, prosecutor, province where the death occurred.

possible murder
The Iran Human Rights NGO (IHRNGO), based in Oslo, Norway, condemned that Samak died at the hands of the security forces during the celebration of the defeat Iran against the United States last Tuesday, which resulted in them being eliminated from the tournament.
After that game they were heard in Tehran cries of “death to the dictator”, addressed to the supreme leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei, as a sign of dissatisfaction of part of the population with the political situation in the country.
The cries are a show of support for the protests that rocked the country following the death in September of young Mahsa Amini, who died after being arrested for allegedly violating the country’s strict dress code.
The riots began over the death of a 22-year-old Kurdish girl, but they have evolved and protesters are now calling for the end of the Islamic Republic founded by the ayatollah. Ruhola Khomeini in 1979.
More than 400 people died during the police crackdown and at least 2,000 people were accused of various crimes for participating in them, of which six have so far been sentenced to death.
