The discussion of arms supplies to Ukraine is important, but also necessary to ensure its effective work, believes the General Secretary.
Ukraine receives many modern weapons systems, but there is a need to continue discussions about additional systems. At the same time, it is important to ensure the efficient operation of all supplied weapons. This is what NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said in a discussion at the Berlin Security Forum on Thursday, December 1.
He also recalled that although NATO is not a party to the military conflict launched by Russia against Ukraine, the Alliance supports the Ukrainian people’s right to self-defense, as stated in the UN Charter.
“Putin made two major strategic mistakes when he entered Ukraine: first, he underestimated Ukraine, the courage and devotion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the political leadership and the people; secondly, he underestimates NATO and its partners in their determination to support Ukraine,” Stoltenberg emphasized.
As Athletistic wrote earlier, Germany offered eight Patriot launchers to Poland. However, Warsaw insists on transferring these air defense systems to Ukraine. They are confident that the Ukrainian military can serve them on their own without NATO intervention.
We add that German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht has promised to submit to the German government a proposal to deploy Patriot air defense systems on the territory of Ukraine.
