Franco-Palestinian lawyer Salah Hamouri, held without charge in an Israeli prison since last March, will be deported to France next Sunday, his family and support group told AFP on Wednesday.
“Franco-Palestinian human rights defender Salah Hamouri, detained under arbitrary administrative detention, has just received a notice on November 30 that he will be forcibly deported to France on Sunday, December 4.A support group endorsed by his family and the Palestinian Authority told AFP.
Mr. Hamouri, 37, was sentenced in March to three months of administrative detention, a controversial measure that allows Israel to imprison suspects without formal charges. His detention was first extended in June and then in September by Israeli military justice, which considers him a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP).
France demanded his release
The Franco-Palestinian denies belonging to this Marxist organization, considering “terroristby the Jewish state and the European Union. Mr. Hamouri went on hunger strike with 29 other Palestinian detainees on September 25 to protest his detention. He was then moved to solitary confinement in the prison and put on strike for nearly two weeks without food.

French diplomacy had unsuccessfully asked Israel to release Salah Hamouri and allow him to live in Jerusalem.
