DBR informs about the detention of the deputy mayor of Kherson, who worked for the enemy during the occupation of the city by the Russians.
Detained reported on suspicion of collaborationism. This was reported today, November 29, by the press services of the DBR and the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
The name of the detainee was not released. According to media reports, we are talking about Vladimir Pepel.
It is noted that before the full-scale Russian invasion, he was responsible for the activities of the executive bodies of the City Council, and after the capture of the city by the Rashists in March, he began working for the invaders and was responsible for the housing and communal services sector.
In particular:
- the traitor took part in the organization of the work of housing and communal enterprises in accordance with Russian legislation, debugged the occupational system of collecting payments for housing and communal services from the population;
- contributed to the establishment of communal and housing services for the occupation administration, illegally created law enforcement agencies, divisions of the National Guard, the FSB and the military;
- prepared the premises for holding a fake referendum on the status of the territories occupied by the Russians.
The detainee was informed of suspicion of complicity with the aggressor state (part 1 of article 111-2 of the Criminal Code). For this offense, the legislation provides for imprisonment for up to 12 years.
During the detention, the Russian constitution and other propaganda materials were found on the man. Also, the defendant is being checked for involvement in the illegal circulation of weapons and explosives, the DBR notes.
Today, the court chose a measure of restraint for him – detention with the alternative of making a bail in the amount of UAH 744,000.
