The price of electricity in the European market has increased by 30-40%. In this regard, the Moldovan company Energocom was unable to purchase the required quantity.
In Moldova, on Tuesday, November 29, the electricity shortage is expected to be around 74%. This was stated by the Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development of Moldova Andrei Spinu, according to NewsMaker.
According to him, for unknown reasons, the price of electricity in the European market has increased by 30-40%. In this regard, the Moldovan company Energocom was unable to purchase the required quantity.
“An incomprehensible phenomenon has occurred. In European markets, especially in Romania, electricity prices have increased significantly. By about 30-40%. Energocom tried to buy electricity at a lower price, but did not can buy electricity throughout the day,” said the minister..
In this regard, Moldelectrica invited emergency power from the Romanian operator Transelectrica. Since the cost of such electricity is high, Spinu urged citizens to continue saving electricity.
“The more we save, the less emergency energy we can get from Romania. We will find out the price. Until now it was 200-300 euros per MWh, depending on when the contract was signed,” said Spinu.
It will be remembered that the other day, due to a missile attack in Ukraine, half of Moldova was left without electricity.
Ukrenergo explained that the power outage in Moldova was due to a frequency jump in a technically joint power grid with Ukraine.
