Moroccan police have launched an investigation on Monday (Nov 28) following the suicide attempt of a French tourist suspected of killing his two minor children at a Marrakesh hotel, according to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
The investigation, under the supervision of the prosecution, aims to “find out the reasons and circumstances of the suicide attempt of a 72-year-old French tourist, who is suspected of committing intentional murder by injecting his two minor children with a suspicious substance.” DGSN said in a statement.
The bodies of two French minors, aged 9 and 13, were found in a hotel room in the tourist district of Marrakesh. Their father, a retired nurse, was found near them in a comatose state.
According to the first elements of the investigation, the bodies of the two victims had no signs of violence or resistance. The autopsy is in progress. There were no signs of violence on the father’s body, which was taken to the local hospital, where he is being treated in the intensive care unit.
The police found a handwritten letter at the scene, which explains the motives of the drama, apparently family, the same police source said. Used medical syringes were also found. The ex-wife of the pensioner was interviewed by the Moroccan judicial police as part of the investigation.
