Ankara from the first day of the crisis sought to resolve the situation peacefully and achieved some results, the Turkish leader stressed.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the “grain deal” and the prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine proved the possibility of a diplomatic settlement. It was reported on November 28 by Anadolu agency.
Speaking at a meeting of the Standing Committee on Economic and Trade Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Turkish leader drew attention to the topic of the war between the Russian Federation and Ukraine, noting that Ankara from the first day of the crisis sought to resolve the situation.
“Thanks to the close friendship with the leaders of both countries, we were able to organize various meetings in Ukraine. The “grain deal” and the exchange of prisoners between the Russian Federation and Ukraine proved the possibility of a diplomatic settlement of differences,” Erdogan stressed.
He added that thanks to the “grain agreement” it became possible to export more than 11 million tons of agricultural products from the Black Sea ports of Ukraine.
The politician expressed hope that the extension of the agreement for 120 days will help the citizens of African countries to overcome the problems in the food sector.
Earlier, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that the war between Ukraine and Russia will only end at the negotiating table.
