official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharovaurged the UN to openly condemn the alleged execution of Ukrainian prisoners of war and stop “hiding behind formulaic phrases.”
This is how the Russian diplomatic representative reacted to the statements of the Deputy Spokesman of the UN General Secretariat Farhan Haq, in which, when asked about the alleged executions of prisoners, he assured that the body “is concerned about any violation of human rights, regardless of who commits them.”
Zakharova published a post in his Telegram channel in which he called UN to make a choice “for all that is good and against all that is bad”, or to assess the events of the war “objectively and impartially”, thereby fulfilling “their duties and functional mandates”.
The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recalled that UN analyzed in detail and actively the events in Bucha, where Ukraine condemned the death of dozens of civilians at the hands of Russia, and now, when it is Moscow that accuses Kyiv of atrocities, the UN avoids “any assessment of factual information” .
Last week, Russian authorities condemned Ukraine for executing a dozen prisoners of war. Kyiv has now announced that it is investigating what happened, although it indicated that preliminary information indicates that Russian soldiers faked their surrender in order to be able to shoot at the Ukrainians, to which they responded.
Russia is bombing Ukraine
The capital Kyiv was left without water and electricity on Wednesday after a wave of Russian airstrikes hit other Ukrainian cities, killing at least three people.
“Russian terrorists are trying to destroy Ukraine’s energy supply facilities. Today there were explosions in different parts of the country,” Vice President of Ukraine Kyrylo Tymoshenko complained in Telegram.
“A two-story building was damaged. There are three dead and six wounded,” the Kyiv Regional State Administration reported on Telegram, without specifying details.
Russia declared by the state as a “propagandist of terrorism”
The European Parliament declared Russia a state-accomplice of terrorism in connection with its “deliberate attacks and atrocities against the Ukrainian population.” He also demanded from the European Union a new legal framework for classifying these states and limiting the community bloc’s relations with said countries.
“The destruction of civilian infrastructure and other serious violations of human rights and international humanitarian law constitute acts of terror against the population of Ukraine and war crimes,” the ministry said.
