In Ukraine, the invaders completely destroyed or partially damaged about 800 cultural facilities. The Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine Oleksandr Tkachenko announced this in a comment on the FREEDOM TV channel.
“We are now actively working, especially at UNESCO, to strengthen these facilities on the eve of winter, to receive, in particular, generators. It is important for us to cope with the winter now, so that the museums are warm- heat, so that there is electricity. cultural life in the country continued,” he said.
The Minister also emphasized that Russia’s current war against Ukraine is a war for the very right to be Ukrainian and the existence of Ukrainian culture.
“This war is against our identity, against our people. We see not only Bucha, but also in many other liberated regions of both Kharkiv and Kherson regions, Ukrainians were just killed for the right to be Ukrainians,” the minister summed up.
Earlier, Oleksandr Tkachenko said he was forced to turn to UNESCO for help to help preserve museum props and exhibits in Ukraine.
