Ankara’s military operation was a response to the explosion that rocked Istanbul on November 13, the media wrote.
The Turkish Air Force has attacked Kurdish bases in Syria and northern Iraq. This was announced on November 20 by the country’s Ministry of Defense.
It noted that the air operation “to neutralize the PKK/KCK/YPG and other terrorist elements” was carried out in accordance with the right to self-defense stemming from Article 51 of the UN Charter.
Its purpose is to “prevent terrorist attacks against Turkish people and law enforcement agencies, ensure border security and destroy terrorism at its source.”
“Terrorist nests destroyed by direct hits,” read the caption on a video of the strikes posted on Twitter.
