The five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Europe should mediate in this process to help Kyiv “survive.”
French President Emmanuel Macron hopes that Ukraine will return to negotiations with the Russian Federation, which involve the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and the Europeans. This was reported on November 18 by Nikkei Asia.
“Ukrainians, I hope, will return to the table (of negotiation – ed.) with the Russians, and at this table there will be the international community, members of the Five (five permanent members of the UN Security Council) and Europeans, ” he stressed in an interview with the agency on the sidelines APEC summit.
According to him, this is not about a conflict in the region, but about a violation of the UN Charter, so Ukraine “must be helped to survive.”
“As a result of this Russian aggression, civilians are being killed, civilian infrastructure is being destroyed… we need to focus on this and call… for an end to this war and the restoration of Ukraine’s sovereign integrity. This is not just a regional conflict or something like that between the West and the East, because these are the principles of the UN Charter. And we all subscribe to these principles. And we must help Ukraine to live in this situation,” said the French leader.
To recall, Macron called on countries in the Asia-Pacific region to join the “growing consensus” against the war in Ukraine.
