Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky opposed Russia’s imposition of peace terms on Ukraine.
Western allies should not dictate the terms of peace in Kyiv and are obliged to recognize that Ukraine is fighting Russia to actually protect all of Europe. This was announced on Thursday, November 17, by the Czech Foreign Minister during a trip to London, reports The Guardian.
“We should not be in a situation where we are dictating terms for peace in Ukraine if they are fighting for their own survival,” said the Czech Foreign Minister, answering the question of whether it is appropriate for Ukraine to demand the restoration of boundaries that exist. before 2014.
He added that the UN principles of territorial integrity and the principles underlying the international order are at stake.
“Putin wants to destroy the principle that the borders of states do not change with the help of brute force. The Ukrainians have made a clear choice that they do not want to be part of the Moscow empire,” said Lipavsky.
He added that the West should help Ukraine in the long run.
Recall that next year the Czech Republic plans to train up to 4,000 Ukrainian servicemen.
Earlier in the day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he had received signals from Western partners about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s desire to hold direct negotiations. Kyiv then proposed a public form of negotiation.
Earlier, the Kremlin said they were ready to negotiate with various countries about the war, but Ukraine itself refused to talk.
