A Polish-American investigation team is working at the site of the missile crash. Ukraine requested to be granted access to the investigation.
Jakub Kumoch, head of the Bureau of International Policy under the President of Poland, said that some evidence has been collected at the crash site of the rocket in Poland, showing the sequence of events. He spoke about it in an interview with TVN24.
“Now there is a lot of evidence that one of the missiles that was supposed to shoot down the Russian missile did not hit the target, the self-destruct system did not work, and this missile, unfortunately, led to the tragedy, ” Kumoh said.
According to him, a Polish-American investigation team is working at the crash site, and the Ukrainians have also asked for access to the investigation.
“If both sides agree, and as far as I know, there is no objection from the American side, then such access can be granted in the near future. If the investigation team has no comments on the technical level, it is likely that there will be no reason to deny the access of Ukrainians” – said the head of the Bureau of International Policy under the President of Poland.
He added, the investigation is studying the wreckage of the rocket, the depth of the crater, experts also calculated where the rocket came from, even the amount of fuel it used.
In addition, according to Kumoh, “there are videos.”
“I don’t want to talk about their content, because I saw them in a classified mode,” he said.
Kumoh stressed that “no one is accusing Ukraine of deliberately bombing Polish territory.”
“Russia bombed Ukraine that day and Russia is fully responsible for everything that happened. It was like a situation where someone stepped on the road and caused a collision between a car and a bus. Is the car to blame? No, the person who stepped on the road and caused the accident is to blame,” he explained.
Recall that on the night of November 15, two unidentified rockets fell near the village of Pshevodov, Lublin Voivodeship, on the border with Ukraine. Two people died.
Later, the Polish Foreign Ministry said a Russian-made rocket had landed in the country.
The Russian Defense Ministry refused to take responsibility for the shelling of Polish territory, saying that it was not their missile.
According to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, preliminary analysis indicates that it was a Ukrainian air defense missile that was used to shoot down a Russian ballistic missile.
According to Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, Poland will not use the fourth article of the NATO agreement because of the fall of a rocket in the village of Przewoduv near the Ukrainian border.
According to him, Russia may have planned the missile incident to involve Poland and Ukraine.
