Britain drew a parallel between the upcoming “vote” in the Kherson region and the “referendum” in Crimea in 2014, organized by Moscow.
Russia is preparing to hold a staged “referendum” in the Kherson region. This is stated in the British intelligence report, published on the night of Monday, April 25.
“Russia is planning a staged referendum in Kherson in the south of the country to justify its occupation. The city is key to Russia’s goal to build a land bridge over Crimea and dominate southern Ukraine,” the document said. reads.
Intelligence officials recalled that Russia held an illegitimate “referendum” on Crimea’s annexation to the Russian Federation in 2014 to re-justify the seizure of the peninsula.
At the same time, experts say that in the Russian Federation no elections will be held honestly.
“Russia’s own internal elections were accompanied by accusations of vote-rigging, and high-level oppositionists were not allowed to run,” the intelligence agency insisted.
It will be recalled that, according to Operational Command South, the occupying forces in the Kherson region have scheduled a so -called “referendum” for April 27.
